JSED - JomSocial Extension Directory

We're happy to announce that the JSED Project is underway, and we need YOU to participate in its success.

The best possible way to ensure that JomSocial continues to grow, mature, become more feature-rich and more rock-solid, is to start building a huge base of 3rd-party developers for the Suite. These developers should be focused on new and exciting templates, compelling feature additions, new application plugins and more. As soon as JomSocial is completely stable and ready for the world at large, a new breed of extensions will emerge that leverage JomSocial features/assets into the the Joomla ether, in the form of integrated componenets and new extension modules and plugins.

Prediction: JomSocial extensions will eventually outnumber Community Builder extensions...
This new directory will continue to follow the evolution of 3rd-party JomSocial development, both free/open source and commercial applications/extensions.For commercial extesnions we'll build an affiliate system to encourage your paid customers to spread the word about your new offerings, and for the free extensions we'll setup an area where you can submit new applications and update information about your existing ones.

We'll release new features for the directory over time, such as RSS feeds for your favorite application categories, ratings and review system, upload/download manager, and much more. Please encourage the developers by giving thorough reviews of their work, make good suggestions for new and future functionality, test their beta code, and anything else you can think of to make sure the JomSocial becomes the leading social networking application suite for Joomla!

 

It's true that there are currently only a handful of 3rd-party extensions for JomSocial, but keep checking back or subscribe to the RSS feeds when they become available so you can take part in the evolution of social networking on Joomla!
